Luxury for Less

Lemosho Route

The Lemosho Route crosses the Shira Plateau from west to east and is often considered the most beautiful of all the trails up Mount Kilimanjaro. This is a good hike for those that have the time to hike for seven to eight days. At the beginning of the hike, it is relatively flat and easy, and crowds are low, providing a sense of solitude and an opportunity to view wildlife such as monkeys, birds and lizards. Eventually the route joins the Machame route. Although the overall trek is longer, the success rate for reaching the summit is higher than with some of the shorter, more strenuous routes.

Lemosho route is one of the quieter routes up Kilimanjaro. This advantage, however, disappears when the route combines with the Machame route on the 3rd day of the hike.

For those seeking a quiet route away from the crowds, this route is a superior option to the Rongai route. Unlike the Rongai, the Lemosho route has the same excellent pro-acclimatization features of the Machame route, which it joins just before reaching Lava Tower. This makes that the success rate is higher on reaching the summit of Uhuru Peak.

Duration: 7 nights/8 days (or 6 nights/7 days)
